£6.1m project well underway

Date Published 08.05.2019

We have just completed the first phase of a project on the border of Wiltshire close to the New Forest, Bournemouth and Southampton.

The £6.1m project for Bidfood (the BFS Group Ltd) will take approximately 14 months to complete and will include:

  • creation of a new staff car park including associated hard and soft landscaping, new pedestrian and vehicle gates, external lighting and a 6m high acoustic fence.
  • remodelling of the yard areas including drainage works, the creation of additional lorry bays and hook up points;
  • a 43,000 ft2 extension for part of the proposed cold store and ambient warehouse with associated chill marshall and dock bays;
  • remodelling within the existing warehouse;

The site is already running at full capacity requiring the need for more storage, the only area available to construct the new extension was the existing staff car park, therefore, the first phase was to create a new, secure car park on a redundant piece of land on the north east corner of the site.

The car park is now complete and works have commenced on the new extension.

The site is situated within the quaint village of Downton, therefore, we are mindful of the fact that we not only need to liaise closely with Bidfood personnel to ensure the smooth running of their day-to-day operation, but also ensure that the works cause minimal disruption to the adjacent residents.

At JJL, we pride ourselves on teamwork, throughout the duration of the project we will work closely with a large number of sub‑contractors integrating many disciplines to complete the project on time, within budget and to an extremely high standard.
